NEWS 21 March 2012

2012 edition of MedComms Careers Guide now freely available online

You can now access the 2012 edition of the MedComms careers guide, From academic to medical writer: A guide to getting started in medical communications direct and free of charge from www.medcommsnetworking.co.uk/careersguide.pdf (note this link remains the same as for previous editions so any links already in place remain correct). The core text remains the same but we have included new profiles of medical writers and, most importantly, updated the directory of agency contacts.

Do please help us spread the word amongst all relevant others. Please feel free to send the guide onwards or share the links with your friends and colleagues.

Note this guide has a clear focus for those looking for jobs in medical writing in the UK, but it should be of interest to many more as background reading for other positions such as account management. This is the fourth year we have published the guide and thousands are now being downloaded every month from the Starting Out page on the MedComms Networking Web site at www.MedCommsNetworking.co.uk/StartingOut where you will find lots more resources, including videos, webcasts, audio boos, Google maps and details of UK careers events as well as the Careers Guide. The resource is clearly proving useful and we will continue to develop it and keep it bang up-to-date.

If you have any feedback, thoughts or suggestions for future editions of the guide, please do let me know. And as I say, please do help spread the word amongst your own contacts and where possible and appropriate please feel free to link to the guide or, better still, to the Starting Out page from your own web sites, blogs, twitter accounts and so on.

Many thanks to Darwin Healthcare Communications for sponsorship help which allows us to also distribute print copies around the University libraries and career fairs. And thanks to the many others in MedComms who contributed their thoughts to what we have done, helped us by providing profiles or participated by providing details of their agency in the directory section.

Download your copy of the 2012 edition of MedComms Careers Guide now.
